RULE 1
INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT SYSTEM
1.1 A new case involving the same criminal defendant or a person on active community control shall be assigned to the judge assigned to the pending case.
1.2 If, upon the date set for a civil or criminal trial, the judge to whom the case has been assigned is absent or engaged in another trial and the parties’ counsel acknowledge their readiness for trial, then the Administrative Judge may assign the case to any judge of that division who is not engaged in trial at that time.
1.3 When necessary or proper, a judge may self-disqualify from a case. In those circumstances, the judge shall inform the Administrative Judge in writing of the disqualification. Upon the Administrative Judge’s approval, the case shall be reassigned by order of the Administrative Judge to another Judge of the division or to a visiting judge upon request of the Administrative Judge and appointment by the Supreme Court of Ohio.
1.4 Unless otherwise agreed by the judges involved, a motion to consolidate shall be heard by the judge to whom the lowest numbered case is assigned and, if granted, all cases shall be consolidated to that judge.
