Pleadings

RULE 3
PLEADINGS

3.1       To practice in the Court of Common Pleas, an attorney must be admitted to practice in the State of Ohio. The assigned judge may admit counsel only upon a filed written motion for admission pro hac vice. An affidavit must be attached succinctly stating the attorney’s qualifications. The assigned judge may require local counsel and may withdraw admission pro hac vice at any time.

3.2       All pleadings shall be filed flat, with no backing required, on 8-1/2" by 11" white paper with a minimum head margin of one and one half inches.  In addition to the original, sufficient copies shall be filed with the Clerk to accomplish service of process, if required.  No additional file copies shall be accepted by the Clerk.

3.3       No civil complaint shall be accepted for filing unless accompanied by a classification form that clearly designates the trial attorney.

3.4.      The attorney or party completing the classification form upon the filing of a complaint shall certify as to whether the case had been filed previously and dismissed.  If the case was dismissed under Civ. R. 41, then, under the case number, the re-filed complaint shall contain the statement: “This is a refiled case,” and the name of the judge to whom the case was previously assigned.
